5 x 7″, oil on canvas covered panel
A ‘sketch’ of Elephant Head mountain in Southeast Arizona.
This is the first of the 5 x 7 ‘miniatures’ using a home built ‘Thumb box’ using Trevor Chamberlain’s ideas and others I found off the web. Support is on the arm instead of a tripod, so it makes sense to have it be as light as possible, paint and brushes go in a separate bag.
Painted on cardboard mounted canvas, which was a little unstable, so I decided later to transfer the canvas to hardboard, gluing down with Liquitex gloss medium. That worked ok, but too labor intensive to do on a regular basis.
